Older furniture can be successfully revamped with new upholstery. Make sure the fabric you choose is suitable for upholstery and co-ordinates well with surrounding décor.

Upholsterers can provide ideas on extra detail work such as fringing, piping, pleats and flounces. When having furniture upholstered it is an idea to purchase a small amount of extra fabric and ask the upholsterer to make protective covers for arms and headrests.

Some people like to have loose covers made for their chairs or lounges so that they can be removed for cleaning. You could even have 2 covers made of different fabrics, one for winter and one for summer.
