A billiard table can provide hours of enjoyment for those lucky enough to have the room for one. When deciding on the size which would suit your home, measure the room first as this will be the major factor in deciding which sizes would suit. Billiard table retailers will supply deliver and install, they can supply all accessories and also offer re-clothing and other upgrading services. Many will have second hand tables for sale and will even move and reinstall for you if you move house.

Tables come in various sizes and in different styles – from traditional to modern. Some have 4 legs, some 6 or 8 depending on the style.

Other points which may help you in making your choice are:

Table Sizes

  • Full size (snooker) 3.66 x 1.83
  • American full size 3.04 x 1.5
  • Three quarter 2.74 x 1.3
  • Half size 2.44 x 1.2
  • Pub size 2.13 x 1.5
  • Cottage size 1.83 x .91

Surfaces are all of Italian slate as other slates are not strong enough and could bend. Felt covers the slate and this is usually green but can be purchased in other colours such as blue or red.

Room size – with the larger tables it is recommended that minimum room be 1.5m larger than the table all round. With medium and small tables it is wise to allow spacing of 1.2m all round. More room needs to be allowed if substantial furniture is required in the room.

Lights over the table can be brass fittings or canopy hood type. The size of the light fitting is proportional to table size so varies with each size table. Make sure you purchase the correct sized light for your table.
