Rugs can be divided into three broad categories:
- machine made which are mainly produced in Europe using the Wilton method
- hand-knotted rugs of the style popular in Persian and Indian rugs - generally more 'tribal' in nature
- hand-tufted rugs - produced in either synthetic materials or wool and commonly featuring brighter, more contemporary designs

Rugs can add the finishing touch to a room or hallway. Rugs can bring together a colour scheme and emphasise or dominate colour in the room. Rugs, like art, add interest and should be chosen carefully.
Many ready-made rugs are available varying in colour pattern and texture. Rugs can also be made to suit far more economically than is often imagined. Ask your retailer to quote on individual designs if you can not find what you are wanting from the rugs available. He will be able to offer advice on colour choice and on product type and quality.
Runners can provide a wonderful solution for hallways and can be fixed or non-fixed depending on the application. Again, a wide range of ready-made runner is offered but custom-made runners can be made quite reasonably.
