With all these options check the following points:

  • When using skip bins, check Council regulations about placement of the bins - most require you to obtain a permit if the bin needs to go on the footpath or roadside
  • check that the price quoted includes tipping fees as these can be quite significant
  • make sure the contracting company is aware of the makeup of the load if the load is of mixed types of materials
  • be sure to say so when booking and obtaining prices if you have fibro or asbestos to dispose of as part of the rubbish
  • check with the company to see if they will take it - tips generally will not accept such materials and they certainly cannot be mixed in with the other rubbish
  • when using skip bins be sure not to overload as the driver may refuse to take the bin until some of the rubbish has been removed - ask what restrictions the company puts on fill height

Removal of rubbish can be a real hassle! Whenever we undertake work around the home or undertake building works , removal of the resultant rubbish from the site can be tedious and expensive.

Skip bins can provide an efficient and economical solution to this problem, Bins are available in a range of sizes and, for heavy items, some larger bins can have fold down flaps such that the rubbish can be barrowed in, avoiding double handling. Bin sizes are in cubic metre capacity and the supplier will be able to give you an idea of the best size for your project. If you require a bin to remain on site longer than 24 hours check that this will be OK as some companies prefer a 24 hour collection. Other companies offer a bin and load service to save you having to load the bin yourself. Another option is to contract a driver who will bring his own truck and load and remove the rubbish for you.
