Tiles and baths can in some cases be resurfaced instead of replaced. This is not appropriate where the surfaces are crumbling or badly deteriorated. The most common type of resurfacing takes the form of synthetic porcelain being fused to the surfaces which produces a very durable finish. The process takes about 3-4 days and can be an economical alternative to retiling.

New enamelled inserts are also available as an alternative method of updating an old bath.

The bath in the picture was resurfaced and coloured to match the tiles thus saving on significant costs in removing and replacing it.
