The purchase of a clothes line might seem a relatively mundane chore but it is important to consider the different types on offer and choose the one which best suits your needs. The traditional hoist while sturdy and functional cannot be moved out of sight if the area is visible from the home, or if the area is sometimes needed for entertaining. Hoists which fold up and are removable are popular for this purpose. Other lines fold down flat against a wall or their own posts when not in use. Extendable lines are handy for small or narrow situations and the line extends out of a metal holding box to a post a set distance away. The lines retract when not in use. Make sure you allow enough line space for the number of people in the family. Ideally you would allow 40m of line for 4 people, 60m for 6, but the size needed will depend on the number of times per week you wash and importantly, the space available for the line. It can be a convenient idea to install an extra folding line in a garage or carport where space allows to use on a rainy day or for delicate to dry out of the sun. Some manufacturers produce covers for lines which can be used in wet weather. Covers for hoist type liens can provide umbrella like shade for entertaining. A new product which rolls out as a cover for folding clothes lines is extremely easy to operate, is very economical and provides full weather protection for your clothes in minutes.
