As little as 10 years ago the idea of installing a water tank to a residence in any of Australia’s Major urban areas was almost unheard of. Australian’s idea of the use of water tanks was limited to country areas not connected to “Town Water”.
 |
How things have changed!
Climate change and the resulting reduced rainfall levels have caused a major re-thinking of the design and application of “Residential Water Catchment Systems”. No longer are they the ubiquitous round corrugated steel structures. They now come in many different shapes, colours, sizes & materials. They can even be flexible systems which can be fitted under houses and buildings where space allows (see above photo).
Times have changed so much that the installation of a water catchment system of some form is now compulsory as a part of a residential construction and or renovation, in many areas of Australia. You will need to contact your local council for more information about the planning and development laws applicable to your locality.
